About Dr. Null

The Rev. Canon Dr. Ashley Null is currently editing a five-volume critical edition of Thomas Cranmer’s private theological diaries, which up till now have been almost completely unknown. This project is supported by a 1.2M Euro grant from the German Federal Republic and will be the topic of his lectures.

Dr. Null is an internationally respected scholar on the grace and gratitude theology of the English Reformation and is the author of Thomas Cranmer’s Doctrine of Repentance: Renewing the Power to Love (Oxford 2000). Dr. Null holds research degrees from Yale and the University of Cambridge and has received numerous awards for his work, including Fulbright, National Endowment for the Humanities and Guggenheim fellowships, and was elected fellow of the Royal Historical Society and the Society of Antiquaries in London. He currently serves as the Theological Advisor to the Diocese of the Carolinas.

Dr. Null's lectures are co-sponsored by Nashotah House Theological Seminary and the Marquette University Theology Department, with the generous support of The Center for the Advancement of the Humanities.
